Restored

You can't see much of the brick in this photo, but the Horton Grand Hotel's edifice is an amazing restoration story. The "new" hotel is comprised from two separate hotels (The Grand Horton Hotel and the Brooklyn Kahle Saddlery Hotel) that were built at different locations and opened in 1886. To make way for the construction of the Horton Plaza shopping mall, the two hotels were completely disassembled - literally brick by brick, then numbered, cataloged, and stored in local warehouses. They were reassembled to build the Horton Grand Hotel which opened in 1986.
