Old Point Loma/Ocean Beach
Today is the 2nd anniversary of San Diego Daily Photo and in honor of this special day I decided to post some photos that remind me of Jane Emerson (my grandmother) to whom this blog is dedicated. These photos belonged to my grandma and my cousin Honie helped me dig them up. My grandparents moved to San Diego in the 1940's and lived in Azure Vista, a war-time housing project located near Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma. The above photo is of Sunset Cliffs with Azure Vista behind. The note on the back of the photo says, "Firemen rescuing a couple of boot soldiers from the incoming tides. 1945-1946? Taken by Ernie Holmes".
After they scraped some money together they bought this house on Del Monte Avenue about 4 blocks from the beach. Below is a view from the porch from 1955.Thank you to Alexandra and Expat for their excellent contributions and to all you visitors that make it fun and worthwhile to keep up this blog! We are looking forward to year 3!

un très beau post pour fêter l'anniversaire de ton DP. Félicitation.
A beautiful post to celebrate the anniversary of your DP. Congratulations
I love old photos! Thanks for sharing! Is the house still there?
Congrats on 2 years and here's to 3!
Amazing photos! Is that house still in your family? So, you must be that native Californian ;-)
Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary!
Congratulations on your second year! Cheers to more photos you'll show us!
Oh my, that flower field photo below is paradise!!! Lovely lovely lovely!
Best wishes for your second, from Nottingham blog, who's also two. An interesting story. It's slightly similar to what Abe Lincoln writes about.
Here's to our third.
Thanks everyone! My grandmother sold the house in the 1990s because all the kids were (almost) gone and it was too much to take care of for one woman! The house is still there but the buyers moved it forward on the lot and built 3 units behind it in a similar style - wise investment property. Isabella, I'm a native Californian, but was born in SF not SD.
What a great photo of Grandma Jane's house.
Congratulations on your anniversary Felicia, and thanks for my daily dose of SD through your eyes.

Nice blog, enjoy!
The second person this month that I've read is their 2 year anniversary of their city photo blog. Great dedication and looking forward to your third year.

I used to live in that house on Del Monte in about 1993 with four other roommates, Patrick, Kevin, Ramsey and Michelle. I had some great memories in that house & we used to throw some great parties.
Anyone know where ANNE EMERSON daughter of Jane, among the others lives today? I lived in The Project with her and many others..We attended Azure Vista Elementary school together......Linda Roberts Longenecker oneartstar@yahoo.com Please respond the above......Thanks!
