Creepy
Can you see why we buy cat food so often now? We are now feeding the whole neighborhood, first with the raccoons and now this opossum. It is a good thing I didn't scare him because I hear they hiss, show their teeth, and can let out a stinky smell. Anyone have some scary opossum stories to share? P.S.: Let me know if you are interested in seeing a photo of poopy neurotic starving Jiminy!

Oh Felicia I feel for you! I hate these creatures. They are so creepy looking. Yuck. My cat Smokey is in/outdoor and at first I had the same problem. (BTW, love the raccoon photo) When I do put food out for Smokey, I started putting the bowl on a chair and made sure he knew it was there. The 'possum has not made it up onto the chair.
Yes please. Let us see how it all began~ :D
I haven't see opossum before!
So I don't know any kind of opossum stories.I am really sorry and little bit scared...
It seems to enjoy the cat food.
Ugh, I hate those things. We have a lot of them around here and they always creep me out!
My first thought - WOT DA HECK IS THAT!!! I thought my posts were creepy! This is a perfect animal for talk shows - Ive never seen this before and Im surprised they just roam freely outside - do they attack cats and dogs or even humans? Or do they just hiss and look creepy? Felicia! You live in a crazy place! - Look at that feet and tail - looks like a huge oversized rat - yikes.
s/he seems rather cute!
yes, show us Jiminy , please!
We don't have opossums, but we have more skunks than we know what to do with. My stupid idiot, lame brain dog got it full blast from one the night before last. We're still trying to get the stink off of him and out of the house.
wow what an animal menagerie, poor Jiminy =)
Thanks for all your nice comments! In a local paper called The Reader, there was a recent article about a group that saves these animals. So, I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds opossums really gross. Thien, this one (maybe there are several?!) is smart - it got up on the chair and knocked the bowl over! Okay, Kris, you are very kind. Our nickname for this opossum is The Rat. Robert, at least the skunk smell will go away eventually!
Interesting collection of wildlife shots you've got there, first the racoons then this... wow !
We have possums here too (we hear them rattling on the roof) but never managed to see them up close. I don't think they look quite like this though...
