Jimmy Wong's neon sign

Hillquest, a guide to Hillcrest, says that Jimmy Wong's is the neighborhood's oldest ongoing restaurant. I couldn't figure out when it opened, maybe the 1940s or 1950s, but in 2006 they remodeled and reopened as The Asian Bistro. I'm glad they kept the sign.

The place next door, now occupied by "The British Invasion," was at one time a well-loved French restaurant called "The 12 Stars" (a reference to the 12 stars on the unofficial flag of United Europe). Perhaps the only San Diego restaurant that followed the French tradition of serving game in the Fall. Wish it was still there -- attrition of restaurants in Hillcrest continues.
