Pacific Shores
For some reason I got to thinking of the movie "Almost Famous" where the opening scene travels down Newport Avenue. Several other San Diego locations are also shown in the film. The above photo is of a bar called Pacific Shores which seems to be one of the oldest original businesses on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach. I posted an old photo of Newport Avenue from 1943 and you can barely see a little bit of the neon sign from Pacific Shores.

i totally see what you mean- almost famous for sure. I love san diego
The Sunshine Co is really my Newport Ave watering hole, but I used the Pac Shores for a while in the '90s. Then I discovered that the bottled beer often had icebergs in it -- a major barkeeping faux pas.
Their drinks are a might bit strong and the prices are low. Make sure you have a designated driver.
