Interstate 8 West

This is what you would see if you entered San Diego County at sundown on the interstate 8 freeway going west. I didn't know this but on wikipedia, it says that the 8 freeway is called the Border Friendship Route from San Diego to the Arizona state line.

That may be the road we took some 47 years ago when we drove from Phoenix to San Diego for a break from the heat.

Been over that route several times. The drop in tempature asyou come over the hill ia welcome relief from the desert heat.

It's known as the Kumeyaay Highway, after the local native American tribe. Technically, according to CalTrans, that's the part east of El Cajon, but a "Kumeyaay Freeway" sign is posted at the west end at Ocean Beach.
