Kobey's Swap Meet
A few weeks ago I noticed that there were more than 60 garage sales listed for the weekend in our local paper. It seems as though we are all trying to make a little money here and there. For buyers or sellers, Kobey's Swap Meet is the biggest garage sale in town. They started out in 1976 and have been an active venue for swaps ever since. In the below photo, you will see a piano for sale at Kobey's and yes, I even saw kitchen sinks too.

Hmmmm, maybe we should have a garage sale. What d'you reckon we could charge for ancient half-empty cans of paint and unused hardware from Ikea assemblies?
Haven't been in years, but think it's a really great swap meet...old stuff and new.
My friend calls what you get from walking in the beating su, on piping hot asphalt for hours "Swap Burn". Anyone that's been to Kobey's on a hot and sunny day knows what I am talking about.
Bring a hat!
Maybe we can go together next time I am in SD.

Expat, you'd be surprised what people will buy! :) I just checked the UT online classifieds and there are now 78 garage sales this weekend. Lots of good "junk" out there. Susu - yes! This was the first time I've been in about 20 years and it hasn't changed a bit.
Oh, what fun to find your site. I look at your pictures and say....I was there today; Oh, we haven't been there in forever; I haven't been there either in forever; great shots at Chicano Park....I was there at the start with Mario; never saw the Lions but it was a great store; I helped move that house where it is now....
Obviously I need to get off my rear and do something new now. I even was there when the sculptor was installing that piece.
