From mountain to mountain

We have two landmark mountains here each with a cross at their peak, one is Mount Soledad and the other is Mount Helix. Mount Helix is said to be "the crown jewel of East County" and provides 360 degree views - one side looks toward the Pacific Ocean, another to the El Cajon valley, and the one above looks north toward Cowles Mountain.

There is some thoought that the hill looked like a particular snail shell on it's side....I don't know how you would prove that; minor localities are usually named by the early settlers.
