Getting rusty

This is another photo from the Mission Beach boardwalk. In the winter or on cold days there aren't as many walkers, bikers, skaters, and skateboarders. But in the heat of the summer this place can be very crowded, so crowded that bikers aren't really riding their bikes as much as straddling their bikes and walking them along. The pier in the background is Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach (below).Cape Cod style cottages were built on the pier around 1927. Originally, at the end of the pier there was a midway/fun zone and a towered ballroom with a crystal disco ball, which is where the name came from.
