Puppets
Over the weekend, we saw a very fun performance at The Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater in Balboa Park. The Puppet Theater has been entertaining young and old for about 60 years using a variety of puppets - marionettes, hand puppets, rod puppets, shadow puppets, and ventriloquism. The above photo is of the puppeteer Big Joe with one of the characters from the show. Big Joe did a great job running the show - he was the voice of all the characters, animated the puppets, made several costume changes, and ran around the theater to our delight.

Puppets... sounds like it could be a lot of fun!
I wonder whether his black costume was enough to make him invisible (which he isn't here) or whether it was part of the show to have him around. Either way, thanks for sharing the fun with us.
Enjoyed your many links of yesterday too. Your hummingbird was definitely a master shot and the cactus flower is beautiful. And now I now how to make a aeroplane out of beer cans! What a day!
Fun photos of what must have been a fun time. I've always thought it would be neat to know how to manipulate puppets on strings; however, I'm not certain I possess the coordination to be able to do it.
Oh you luckies! My husband and I frequented puppet theaters for years and just love it! Glad you have such a historied puppet theater nearby.
