Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving here in the US. A day we march around and say silly things about how we're thankful for what we have...that's all bullocks. It's about the food, it's all about the food, it's everything about the food. We stand about in the kitchen all day, cooking up a storm and fretting about how we're going to time is right to get 15 dishes on the dinner table at the same time. And then we gorge Roman-style, and after sit around for a while enjoying each other before the food has settled enough for us to start in on dessert. Then we eat some more.
This is our turkey, which this year, is being smoked. Just before it was put in the smoker, this image was snapped.
Go eat, folks. Eat lots. And if you don't happen to celebrate Thanksgiving where ever you are, it's high time you started to. ;-)

Don't worry Lezard &mdash that's just one of two turkeys that'll be on our table tonight. They're both around 5 kg.

I am rolling on the floor laughing at your post! You are *SO* right. And, if people think your turkey is small, they should have seen ours. . .We had Rock Cornish Game Hens!!
Happy Thanksgiving!

tee hee - yes, while our bird might be a small (13 lbs.), it's one of two that will be on the table. But you (chris) surely have us beat by a long shot w/rock cornish game hens!

Hi Felicia,
I'm working on a new tradition at my house. It's been a quiet day at my house, eating leftovers all day but now fixing a vegetable supper. I'm not always a vegetarian but today it just seems right to eat light, avoiding the gluttony that seems to ordinarily mark the day.

Silly me, huh?

Oh wow - 2 turkeys!!! Did you all sleep last night with all the preparations? We are just about to sit down to our 20 lb turkey - way too much for just 5 adults. Annie, I think that is a great idea. I'm just going to try moderation, with whipped cream on top!
