Flight

Thousands of people have been evacuating their homes here due to several spreading wildfires. Most schools are closed and our football stadium is being used as an evacuation center. It is particularly distressing because four years ago we experienced a similarly devastating fire. For now, I can still see a bit of blue sky from my house (I live near La Mesa) but I can see the haze of gray brown smoky sky coming closer. It is going to be an anxiety filled day for San Diegans and a sleepless night for most. I hope that you and your family are safe!
PS: This is a peacock jumping from a rooftop at the zoo.

I've been thinking and praying for you guys. I'm glad you're safe at this point, and hope it stays that way.

BTW. . To answer your question about the Baptist Sunday School Board Building on my site. . . .It's called that because they originally published all materials for the Southern Baptist Sunday schools. I'm not Baptist, but from what I've read, the Sunday School literature was the main way they were able to teach members of all ages about the gospel.

We're praying for y'all up here in Portland, too. Also I heard on the news that fire trucks and crews from Washington and Oregon are headed down to help. My cousin lives in San Diego, but I don't know exactly what part of the city. Mama's talking to her on the phone right now; they're packed and ready to evacuate if the need arises.

I was just watching the scenes on TV earlier this morning and it was quite shocking to see the devastation and of course my first thought was for how you were doing.

Hope you fare well.

Thanks to all for your support and kind words. There has been tremendous support from city, county, State, and Federal agencies as well as volunteers and community organizations, so we can be thankful for that!
