After the breakfast theme day this week, I got a craving for pain au chocolat. For pastries and yummy French food, check out The French Gourmet restaurant and bakery in Pacific Beach where this cute chef guy greets visitors.

I'd like to recommend "My Place" on Girard St., right opposite where the Cove cinema used to be. It's owned by Charles Zadeyan, who used to own the French Pastry Shoppe. A good friend of mine, and someone who really tries hard to make the restaurant authentically french.
i used to live on sapphire about a block away, and i don't remember the french gourmet looking like this. they must have done a major facelift!
Mmmiam! Someone should fix his tie, though ;-)
