Squirrel killings

A squirrel controversy is brewing here. Due to infestation and aggressive squirrel reports in Balboa Park, the city used a pest control method where chemicals are put in the squirrel burrows to kill off the squirrels. Instead of dying in their homes, several of the squirrels came to the surface to die and caught the attention of passersby as well as animal activists. Read more here. On a happier note, Happy Birthday to my friend June, uncle Tom, and cousin Nathan!

I like your photograph. I am also deeply amazed that they would posion animals for trying to live. The same should be done to them in my view. People like that have either lost their brains or had none to being with. Why kill innocent living creatures just because they are trying to live. And when the cities steal their land, and take away their trees and leave them with nothing then what else have they to do to keep from starving to death. Shame on your city fathers for using poison.

Great photo! I like the D.O.F.

I never knew they periodically poisoned the squirrels...that seems totally strange to me. They must not think there are enough natural predators around to keep the population in check. Populations are always in flux, no matter what. Let's see, in a couple of years there will be too few of them and a big swelling of support will go out to increase their numbers!

And June 2 is a popular bday for people. It's my daughter's as well! :)

So,I thought that the squirrels broke and eat the nuts, but the truth is that the nuts will finish the squirrels. So this is the war.
