Mud & manure

Can you imagine living in a house built from mud and manure? The house in the photo is called Casa de Estudillo and is made from adobe soil which could have some manure mixed in there to give it strength. The house was built around 1828 and is one of the historic buildings that you can tour in Old Town. Read a cool story here about a local preservation group that volunteers to repair and maintain old adobe structures.

one of my favorite spots in old town. i could live there. amazing how it's always about ten degrees cooler when you step into the courtyard area from outside.

I remember Adobe houses in Cairns, in far north Queensland. Most impressive they were too.
