Fast wings
Yesterday I was so proud of myself for catching this little girl in action. My first thought was that Abraham Lincoln of Brookville, Ohio has probably taken some awesome close-up photos of hummingbirds. I am embarrassed to say that I don't know what type of hummingbird or any other details about these birds, but do check out Abraham's beautiful photos and detailed information from April 8th on hummingbirds. From Abraham's post, one detail that impressed me was that several baby eggs could all fit under a bottle cap.

I saved your picture to my desktop and then looked at it in Photoshop in an effort to see behind the darker parts and I was able to see and tell you that it is a female Rufous Hummingbird and migrates to Mexico and back along the Pacific Coast. There is a considerable amount of detail in your photograph.
I also like your photograph. I think it captures the urgency of the feeding process and the bird's flying skills.
Great capture Felicia!
Well done! Love the background blue as well...
that's gotta be the coolest hummingbird feeder i've ever seen. is it all metal?
Wow, what a great shot!
Be proud of yourself. It's an arresting photograph!
oh, this is perfect!
reminds me of Abe, too
Dear Felicia, i'm doing ok in Shanghai but very very busy, I'm happy for being able to just keep up with posting...anywaz, this is a GREAT shot, a shot to be proud of!!
Thanks everyone. I only hope that one day I'll be able to catch the male hummingbird in action - they are amazingly colorful. Thanks to Abe for showing his and for providing the info on the bird - you know your birds! Brent McD, yes it is metal and glass (of course). When I blew the photo up I was happy to see how pretty the feeder was too.
Great shot boiby, good that I pointed it out. Very nice, you are my favorite photographer.
