Lake Murray ducks

I liked seeing these two photos together so I decided to post two today (hmmm, this could be a new series - two for Tuesdays). I showed this lake before in the spring when things were greener. When I saw the photos of Kris' ducks in Szentes, Hungary earlier this week, I thought that ducks are the same everywhere in the world - always quacking and always willing to eat.

Lovely scene, Felicia!
those with b/W face are unique to me, as if they are painted.

The white-faced guys look like coots, which are technically rails, not ducks. The things you learn from blog-commenting!!!

...and here's a point. I'm very fond of duck in gastronomy, and I have some great recipes. But I've never heard of anybody eating coot. Wonder why that is....
