Kip's Cafe

I thought I'd take a short break from my Mexican food posts on Fridays and Lisi of Hong Kong Daily Photo mentioned Kip's Cafe in El Cajon so I decided to check it out. Kip's is celebrating its 50th year in business. They have a huge menu offering both Chinese and Japanese food. Fast service and yummy food too. It is not in the best neighborhood, but that doesn't keep the customers from coming back...lots of rowdy locals at the Blarney Stone Pub next door.

"KIP'S CAFE IS CLOSING" BUT WAIT...
Last night I went to order take out at our MOST FAVORITE Asian food restaurant-Kip's Cafe. The sign on the door informed all it's patrons that they would be closing and it's last day of food service would be November 22nd, 2008. "Kip" is retiring after 50+ years of serving customers high quality food and fast service.
BUT WAIT, HOLD ON... One of the chef's has step up to the plate and wants to keep the spirit of Kip's alive and purchased it. As of 11-18-08 it's new name will be "Lucky Cafe" and have essentially the same menu with added sushi bar items!!!! YUMMMMM. It will still be in the same location (2nd Ave. south of Madison by Rite Aide in El Cajon, CA.)
I'm going to miss having my "Kip's" fix, but I look forward to savoring it "ancient Chinese/Japanese secrets on my palet. Good-bye my unseen friend "Kip". Happy retirement.
I hope you have trained the one to carry your tourch well. I personnally look forward to the wonderful meals I've always had from "Kip's Cafe" now or soon to be "Lucky Cafe".
Thank you for all your years of service to us.
