Granada Avenue
This side street off of University Avenue has an interesting mix of offerings. Granada Avenue is in North Park and the area is an "up and coming" neighborhood. Starbucks has made a home there and just around the corner a big new parking garage was built. Luckily the area still holds its urban feel and hasn't gotten to be too upscale to price everyone out.

I think small businesses and shops make good street photos. There are often many things such as signs and wares on the pavement to make the picture interesting. You were lucky that the street was relatively clear of cars in front.
Nice shot. I took almost exactly the same photo a while back but haven't posted it. "Leo Stern's Gymnasium for Physical Conditioning" is probably my favorite sign in all of San Diego.
