A day at the races

Only 10 more days and the racing season at the Del Mar racetrack will be over. This yearly event creates a lot of excitment and draws crowds of people from all walks of life, not just the betting types. The last time I went was 17 years ago when I turned 18. You are not allowed to bet unless you are over 21. Every Friday there is also a free rock concert following the races - the last concert of the season is this Friday, September 1st.

Nice picture. I love horses and the houses in the back give a very special look to the photo. You say there are rock concerts after the races? Poor horses. I imagine they must get very afraid of the noise!

Those houses (condos, actually) in the background rent for UNBELIEVABLE sums of money for the racing season. The owners just move out and cash in. Also, the horse barns are a good distance from the rock venue so I doubt the gee-gees suffer at all.

I'm planning to be there on friday!! Wish me luck.

Thanks everyone!
Good luck tomorrow Stu! Win or lose it will be a fun time. Although, it could be some very fun and memorable times if you make $300+ from $2 as Susan notes!
