Neighborhood bananas

For some reason I was surprised to find that there are bananas growing in my neighborhood. Many people here have orange or lemon trees. Well, it is hot and sunny in San Diego and those are perfect conditions for growing bananas. I'll have to take a walk in a few weeks and see if they are ripe. The photo below is another angle of the yard where the bananas grow. They have the whole tropical theme going on.

From Logan Daily Photo - Bananas got a lot more expensive and are in short supply as we recently had some very bad storms go through the farms in the north of Queensland. In good old Aussie fashion, a lot of people have gone to help out and get our farmers back on track.

The second photo looks good.

Those bananas look beautiful! Bananas are almost a staple food here in the Philippines, I enjoy eating it after every meal...and enjoy it much better with ice cream (banana split sundae)!

Bananas ripen after you cut them down, so you may never actually see them ripen on the tree. These actually look ripe now.

Or maybe I should say--they look ready to cut down so they can ripen.
