This reminds me of the mountains on Catalina. Speaking of which...I'm sure a venture out there would still be considered "San Diego" wouldn't it? We don't have to tell anyone it's not! Loving your photos!
Thanks for the comments everyone. Eric - I bet animals might try to eat but the thorns are pretty tough. Actually, people eat this cactus. Called nopales or nopalitos in Spanish - remove the thorns and skin and make a salad! Micheal - I've never been to Catalina but will have to make the trip. I think the Catalina Islands are in Aliso Viejo Daily Photo territory. Heard it is beautiful. Adam & Midnitebara - These flowering cactus are very common around here and grow on the hillsides. Glad I could share it with you.
